Agora is an easy to use online meeting tool. With Agora you can take your workplace with your laptop.

Video-conference "many to many": Organised into virtual meeting rooms, you can video-conference with an unlimited number of participants(*).
Shared desktop: You can broadcast what you are watching on your desktop.
Whiteboard: Collaborative whiteboard on which anybody can sketch.
Chat: Instant messaging application.
Moviecasting: Broadcast movies.
Session recording: Record your sessions for further analysis.
(*) The number of participants will depend of your bandwidth and CPU.

Meetings: Where a number of the participants cannot be physically present.
Teaching: Creating and/or participating in virtual classrooms easily.
Guidance: With Agora you can demonstrate in real time how to use software. Also you can show, via your webcam, how to do a task or give tips and advice to the rest of the participants.

Open source. Sakai integrated

Agora is an Open Source project. Distributed with Apache Licence you are allowed to modify freely this application and adapt it to your organisation.

Agora is fully integrated with Sakai (you need to have Sakai in order to deploy Agora in your organisation). Because of this integration you can enjoy and use also all the features and tools integrated in Sakai.

Agora is a contributed project within Sakai. You can see the latest information about the Sakai integration here.

Sakai is a framework / application for e-learning, e-research and e-Collaboration. Sakai has tools such as Blog, Wiki, Chat, Discussion, Forum, Resources, etc. Both Agora and Sakai work together offering you complementary services.

Who is behind Agora

Agora is a project managed by the Centre for e-Science at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom.

Agora has been funded by JISC and the ESRC as part of major projects.
